The Special Edition Dog Walk is coming!
Sarge’s has found a new way to hold the much-loved annual Dog Walk — in a safe way.
Sarge’s reimagined 15th Annual Dog Walk is presenting a week of fun Aug. 15 – 22 for animal lovers — online, so no matter where you live, you can watch and participate.

Post pics now with your Special Edition T-shirt and your pet
For those who ordered a special edition shirt from Bonfire, when you receive your shirt, wear it and take a photo or short video of you with your pet. Remember, this year’s events are open to cats and other pets.
“Just like contest judge Jeanne Naber did, we’re hoping that everyone submits pictures of themselves in their new Sarge’s T-shirt with their pet,” said Paula Gatens, Sarge’s board member and Dog Walk committee leader. “The more photos and videos we get, the more fun the virtual Dog Walk will be!”
Post the pic or video on your social media account with the hashtag: #sarges2020.

*categories for contests requiring a pic or video with participants and their pets.
You do not need to enter the contests, Aug. 15 – 19 (non-contest posts of you and your pets are more than welcome), but if you would like to enter a contest, include your name, the pet’s name, whether it’s a Sarge’s alum, and which contest you are entering.
For the contests, please add: #besttrick, #tailwagging, #costume, #sargealumni or #kids. Deadline for contest entry is noon Friday, Aug. 14, but entries may be posted on social media as soon as you receive your shirt.
Sarge’s staff will collect the pics and videos and post as many as possible.
How the contests will work
On the designated day for each contest, Sarge’s will post entries on Facebook. Folks will be asked to vote, by clicking “Like” for their favorite pics/videos.
The top 10 vote-getters from each day will be reviewed by Sarge’s Dog Walk judges, Eddie Foxx, morning personality on 99.9 KISS Country, Asheville; Jeanne Naber, SongBug DJ Services, and past MC for Sarge’s Dog Walk; and Matt Perusi, graphics manager for dog walk sponsor, The Mountaineer. As head judge, Eddie Foxx will award one lucky entrant the “Eddie trophy,” his award to best-in-show.
The judges will render their decisions, to be announced on the last day of the online Sarge’s Dog Walk activities, Saturday, Aug. 22. The announcement of winners will be made on Facebook.
